THIRTY YEARS OF BAKERY, RUSTIC SANDWICHES, AND NOW, A WHOLE LOT MORE

Standing in Colleen Froehlich’s charming, light-filled bakery, it’s impossible to imagine what her brother saw 28 years ago when he lovingly suggested she ‘burn it to the ground!’ Perhaps good advice at the time, but we’re so grateful she didn’t.

Almost three decades later, Froehlich’s talent and relentless hard work are still evident in this beautiful storefront. A place for coffee, sweet treats, and savory rustic sandwiches, it remains an inviting gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. And while we love it for a hang, it’s absolutely worth the trip just for a loaf of fresh-baked bread. Or bagels. Or crispy rosemary flatbread. (Colleen is really good at bread.)

In 2019, Froehlich’s vision for an expanded culinary campus opened across the street in another stately old building ready for some love. Here you’ll find a full-service restaurant and bar, deli, bottle shop, and retail boutique featuring Froehlich’s signature sauces and preserves. And after years of offsite catering, she now hosts groups of up to 350 in her unique event space, 19 North.

Local Tip: Stocking the cottage for the week or weekend? Froehlich’s online order program is a fantastic resource. From soups, salads, snacks and spreads to full meal kits – and all the bakery – orders are ready for pickup from 12:30pm Thursday through Monday.
