Elevating queer community and expression

Although our corridor of the lakeshore has a long-established LGBTQ community representing significant contributions to business, art, and culture, it took two creative young 20-somethings to launch its first ‘official’ celebration of Pride in 2021.

Three years later, Harbor Country Pride is an enthusiastically embraced occasion for music, dance, drag, and drinks. Plus comedy, trivia, and family-friendly activities like the unicorn-themed fun run and chilled-out beach yoga. But perhaps the centerpiece, and the event the founders are most proud of, is Grom—a free, safe, inclusive formal for teens to dress up and dance in celebration of prom, graduation, and each other.
