A NEW WAY TO PLAY IN THE SNOW
Somewhere between extreme sledding and snowshoeing on the winter thrill scale, fat tire biking has arrived in southwest Michigan. Essentially a next-generation mountain bike with extra wide, knobby tires, fat tire bikes allow the rider to float over soft terrain like sand, mud, and (yes!) snow. Slow and steady or fast and furious, fat tires are a super fun new way to explore the winter landscape. Rentals are available at nearby Love Creek County Park, where you’ll find bikes in three sizes and 3.5 miles of well-marked, groomed trails. Afterward, share your adventure fireside over a warm drink in the park’s interpretive center.
Local Tip: Love Creek also offers cross country ski and snowshoe rentals, with over five miles of dedicated, groomed trails. Check their facebook page before you head out – the staff is great about posting pictures and updates on trail conditions.
