JOURNEYMAN DISTILLERY'S UNEXPECTED AMENITY

Tucked behind Journeyman Distillery’s historic campus, with a peaceful rural view as long as the eye can see, lies a surprise. A dramatic, mounding putting green named for the distillery’s founder, his passion for golf, and a slightly impractical vision. At 30,000 square feet, (Bill) Welter’s Folly is believed to be among the ten largest putting greens in the world.

Inspired by the famous Himalayas Putting Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, where both Bill and course developer Craig Haltom lived for a spell, Welter’s Folly is a beautiful and challenging 18-hole public green designed to delight experienced golfers and beginners alike. Think the sophistication of an elite private course imbued with the casual, playful attitude of mini golf. Accompanied by an excellent craft cocktail (or milkshakes for the kids!), Welter’s Folly is links like you’ve never experienced.

Local Tip: Journeyman’s restaurant, Staymaker, offers outdoor dining and drinks overlooking the green. With a menu of savory, shareable plates, plan to stay and enjoy the view while discovering your favorite Journeyman spirit.
