Welcome to summer vacation of years past. The kind spent barefoot, unscheduled, and a little bit wild.

Throwback in spirit but modern in comfort, Sweethaven was inspired by the 1920s family resort original to the property. Today, six unique cottages share nine wooded acres—a place to explore moss-covered paths, strike up a game of volleyball or horseshoes, or just sit and listen to the breeze in the trees. The beach, tasting rooms, markets, and cafés are all a short ride away and even more fun to visit when you travel by bike, so consider including them on your packing list.

While varying in age, each cottage reflects the talent and wit of the resort’s resident proprietors, Liz and Chuck Garasic, thoughtfully designed with one to five bedrooms and amenities like fireplaces, screened-in porches, and private hot tubs. (Our favorite is The Heron House.) Best of all, you’ll find at least one or two spots for your sunset campfire because every day of summer vacation should end with s’mores.

Local Tip: The big-but-not-too-big setting makes Sweethaven ideal for family reunions. Inquire early for the best shot at a resort takeover.
