A beach town farm shop
There’s a dreamy place where simple pleasures (quiet gardens, farm-to-table food) peacefully coexist with modern luxuries (iced lattes, adorable merch).
Minutes from downtown New Buffalo, Farmette rolls a café, marketplace, bakery, and microfarm into one irresistible stop for sustainably sourced provisions.
Katie Burdett, an organic farmer, wanted to meet shoppers where they are, especially when they’re in the vacation mindset. At Farmette, she stocks beach snacks, healthy grab-and-go meals, fresh produce, low-intervention wines, gifts, and house-baked sourdough locals go crazy for.
Sustainability and local production are Katie’s main criteria for filling the shop. But she’s always thinking about how products look—and how visitors might feel, too.
‘Charmed and delighted’ is a likely response. Especially when you’re sitting in the courtyard sipping a cold brew, watching the breeze gently tousle the treetops, with a bag full of treats to carry you through your getaway.
Local Tip: Leashed buddies are welcome outdoors at Farmette. And if you time it right, artist Adrienne Michaels (a.k.a. AgeMade) will doodle a fun pup portrait on the spot. Watch for popup dates on the farm’s event schedule.
